Obituary of Rolande G. Trottier
Rolande G. Trottier March 3, 1942 – July 31, 2014 “Don’t take average [advantage] of me,” “dat [that] is over dare [there],” “is dat a snik [snake],” “arrh, rankle [wrinkles],” “poke nut [polkadot] dress.” We will never hear these Frenglish phrases again. Our beloved wife, Mama and friend left to go to heaven. She was a hugging machine. You couldn’t come within 5 feet of her without being hugged. She cut neighbor’s hair in her little home salon. She would slip napkins or cardboard in her husband’s sandwiches. Pour a little honey in a visitors’ shoes. Sneak up and pull her son’s leg hairs. Draw a fist time visitor to the family pool to the edge and push then in. Nobody was above her pranks. We won’t eat anymore homemade French fries in tin foil cups and the wrestling matches in our living room are done. Yes, she actually wrestled her teenage children. She always said “we only borrow one another.” God took her back but He should check his sandwiches. We are grateful we were able to borrow her for so long. She is survived by her darling of 53 years, Rodrigue Trottier. The passion between them made people blush and he will be lost without his darling. She called him “Petou” and he called her “Cocotte”. We never heard them call one another anything else. The last person she called for was her Petou. He clutched her in his arms and sent her to our Lord. These beautiful people were more in love than most and spent their lives loving one another and others. In 1965, they packed everything they had in a 57 Ford and moved to America for a better life. It was a hard transition but she did it with him and they enjoyed the American Dream. She is also survived by her three children, Alain Trottier; Linda Trottier and Marianne Waterstradt. She was blessed to have 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren who all loved her dearly. Au revoir la belle fille.
