Obituary of Cheryl Ann Halhober

Cheryl Ann Halhober, age 62, of Monroe passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014 at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe after a long illness. She was born in Gaston, Alabama June 12, 1952 the daughter of George Howard Custer and Imogene Wells. She attended Erie Mason Schools. She married Joseph Halhober on December 21, 1969 in Monroe. For the next 20 years they travelled on assignment in the US Air Force. She worked during this time at the base officers clubs as a waitress and manager. She was an artistic person. She enjoyed making and selling many different craft items and had also worked for JoAnn Fabrics, Crafts 2000. Her specialty items were Christmas related. She was involved in crafting for 25 years. She was a vendor for 25 years at the Matthes Tree Farm and the Erie Apple Orchards and also at the Bedford Jr. High School plus other craft shows. She also was a licensed real estate agent for 21 years with Century 21. She and Joe travelled in their RV together and made friends everywhere they went. She and Joe served as Michigan Good Sam Assistant Wagon Master from 1999 to 2004 and was director from 2005-2010 and she served as Gavel Chapter President from 2011 until now. Surviving her are her husband Joe; a son Joseph Halhober of Coldwater, A daughter Susan Dawn Halhober of Dry Ridge, Kentucky; 2 grandchildren, Terrance (TC) and Devin Sockrider and a brother Charles Custer. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call on Friday, June 27, 2014 from 12 noon until 8 PM at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156). The funeral will take place at 6 PM that same Friday. Officiating will be Rev. Gene Jenne. Cremation will follow the services. Memorials may be made to Hartley Outdoor Education Center in St. Charles, Michigan or a college fund for her grandson Terrance Portillo through First National Bank of Carrollton, Kentucky, in C/O Susan Halhober.
