Obituary of Charles Collins

Charles “Chas” Collins, age 65, of Dundee, passed away Friday, February 14, 2014 at his residence after battling a long illness of Lung Cancer. He was born January 1, 1949 in Prestonburg, Kentucky the son of Glover and Cardella (Jarrell) Collins. He came to the Ypsilanti area in 1957. He was employed by General Motors for over 30 years. On July 23, 1988 he married Terry at their home in Milan. He was a member of the Belleville Free Will Baptist Church and the Dundee Sportsman Club. Charlie enjoyed his cabin up North, playing cards, horseshoes, riding his Harley, hunting and family time. He is survived by his wife Terry of 25 years; his 6 children Barbara (Silas) Meadows, William Collins, Debbie Collins, Christopher (Rachel) England, Jonathon (Emily) England, and Rashell Crawford; 10 grandchildren: Brandon, Silas (Buck), Trenton, Justin, T.J., Abbigail, Riley, Zachary, Isabella and Alexandra; 2 sisters. Sylvia Daugherty and Geraldine Magnum both of Indiana and 3 half sisters, JoMae, Maxie and Opal. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, O.C. (Boots) and Connie (Shorty) and one sister Toby. Friends may call on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 11 – 2 PM and 5 – 8 PM at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156). He will lie in state Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 11 AM until 12 noon services at the Belleville Free Will Baptist Church, 750 E. Huron River Drive, Belleville, MI 48111. Officiating will be the Rev. Walker Harris. Burial will follow at Union Udell Cemetery in Ypsilanti.
