Obituary of Clair Rigel

Clair E. (Jake) Rigel, age 78 of Dundee, Michigan passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the Hospice of Lenawee in Adrian. He was born in Dundee October 5, 1935 the son Loyd and Cecile (Winters) Rigel. He graduated from Boystown in Douglas, Nebraska which was founded by Fr. Flanagan. Jake married the former Nancy M. Hodgin on November 30, 1955 at St. Irene Catholic Church in Dundee. He was a master carpenter and worked out of the union halls in Ann Arbor and Taylor. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and mushroom hunting; card games and puzzles and especially spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife Nancy; sons Mark (Leonor) Rigel of California, Jeff Rigel of Dundee and Matt (Julie) Rigel of Brighton; daughters Sue (Mario) Hurkmans of Petersburg and Karen (Jim) Kerr II of Dundee; grandchildren Keri Kerr, Jimme S. Kerr III, Kara (Bryan) Horner, Matthew Rigel, Marcia Rigel, Connor Rigel and Janelle Rigel; great-granddaughter Ryleigh Kerr; brothers Richard (Marlene) Rigel of Ida and Raymond (Annie) Rigel of Monroe; sister Viola (Lavern) Clark of Dundee. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Donald and sister Joyce. Friends may call on Sunday, February 16, 2014 from 12 noon to 6 PM at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156 A closing prayer will be held at 6 PM. In accordance with his wishes cremation will follow the services. Immediately following the prayer, the family would like to invite everyone to a funeral dinner from 6:30 till 8:30 PM at Dundee’s Old Mill on Toledo Street.
