Obituary of Helen M. Janus

Helen Janus, 97, of Ruskin, FL, formerly from Maybee, MI, died on Jan. 15, 2014, at Cypress Creek Assisted Living Center in Ruskin, FL. She had been in poor health for the past six months. Cremation has taken place and memorial service's will be held in Dundee at a later date with cremain's burial at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dundee. Born Sept. 28, 1916, in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of Joseph and Agnes (Szostak). She married Edward Janus on Nov. 24, 1935, in Detroit. He preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 1967. She was a long time homemaker and worked at The Log Cabin Laundromat in Dundee and at St. Irene Catholic Church. She was a member of the Dundee Senior Citizens. Helen enjoyed bowling, bingo, visiting casinos, polka dancing and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. Surviving are one son, Joseph (Sandy) Janus in Ruskin, FL; and several grandchildren, including Ricky Janus of Monroe, Daena (Andy) Baker of Oswego, IL and Linda (Wess) Honeycutt of Marion, NC. She also has several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; three sons, Robert, Richard and Donald (Duck) Janus; and one daughter, DiAnne Janus.
