Obituary of Lois A. Bivins

Lois a. Bivins, age 72, of Dundee, passed away at Monday, December 23, 2013 at st. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor She was born in Manchester, Michigan December 31, 1940 the daughter of Harold and Mary (Yenor) Butler. Lois graduated from Dundee High School in 1958. She had worked as the manager of Mr D’s in Dundee; was manager of Perky’s Pantry of Dundee and Blissfield for many years and was a cashier at the Saline Wal-Mart Store. She had a lifetime love of horses and trail riding. Her special accomplishment was in 1985 when she graduated from the Monroe County Special Deputy Training Program with the Sheriff’s Department. She was a Lieutenant on the Monroe County Sheriff Posse and was a Monroe County Special Deputy. She is survived by her daughter Dawn (Sam) Everly of Tecumseh and her son Jerry (Darlene) Bivins-Roels of Riverview; 3 grandchildren Amanda Nault, Brendan Smith and Cody Everly; sisters Adeline (Bob) Handy of Tecumseh, Karen (Carl) Niska of Florida; brothers Harold (Butch)(Pam) Butler of Adrian and Terry (Teri) Butler of Tecumseh. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Della Purtain. Friends may call on Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 1 PM until services at 2 PM at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156). Officiating will be the Rev. Douglas Olsen, pastor of the Dundee United Methodist Church. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has been held. Memorials may be made to Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy Association or to the Monroe County Humane Society.
