Obituary of Thomas E. Flower

Thomas E. Flower , age 80, of Dundee passed away on Friday, January 25, 2013 his home. He was born in Willis, Michigan December 16, 1932 the son of Melvin and Nora (Strong) Flower. He married Barbara L. Orr October 11, 1958 at the Dundee United Methodist Church. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1951 and soon after joined the US Air Force. He served from 1952-1956 and achieved the rank of Staff Sgt. He was stationed in South Dakota and Texas. Tom spent 33 years in the lumber business with 30 years at Fingerle Lumber Company in Ann Arbor. He started as a salesman and worked his way up to the manager of the wholesale division. He loved camping, woodworking, travelling, his church and especially his family. He was a member of the Dundee United Methodist Church for 53 years and had served on almost every church office and committee during that time. He is survived by his wife Barb; his daughter Amy (Jeff) Hempel of Ida; grandchildren Connor and Katie Hempel and brother Buhl Flower of Milan. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Wallace, Jim and Dave, and sisters Claire White and Nancy Johnson. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 3 – 8 P.M. at Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156). The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 2, 2013 from 10 AM until services at 11 AM at the Dundee United Methodist Church (the corner of Sydney and Franklin Streets). Officiating will be the Rev. Douglas Olsen, pastor of the church. Cremains interment will be held at the Ridgeway Cemetery in Ridgeway Township.
