Obituary of Raymond D. Lorenz

Raymond D. Lorenz, age 84, of Britton, Michigan, passed away in his families care and that of the Hospice of Lenawee facility in Adrian on Monday, November 26, 2012. He was born In Tecumseh Township, Michigan on July 21, 1928 the son of John and Bertha (Devermann) Lorenz. He married the former Dorothy L. Price on June 20, 1953 at Blissfield. He was a graduate of Britton High School in 1946. He served his county as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force. His enlistment was from July 21, 1947 until July 20, 1950. He was an inspector at the Tecumseh Products Company; he owned and operated a Mobil Gas Station in Britton from 1954-1963; he was a correctional counselor at the Federal Prison System in Milan from 1963 until retiring in 1983; was a board member of the former Milan Federal Credit Union; loved hunting and fishing; was an avid Detroit Tigers fan but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Dundee. Ray is survived by his loving wife Dorothy; his children Larry (Terry) Lorenz of Lake George, MI; Linda (Jeff) Sontag of Dundee and Sandra (Chris) Barecki of Brooklyn, MI; grandchildren Jim Sontag, Debbie Sontag-Cheema, Colleen Greenward, Tarah Waynick and Shayna Stillwagon; great-grandchildren Gabriel, Kiley, Jonathan, Dana, Justin, Elizabeth, Douglas and Sara. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Herbert, Wilmer (Bud), David, Richard and Donald, and sisters Alvina Shiels and Erma Lorenz. Friends may call on Wednesday from 1 – 8 PM at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156). The family will greet friends and family from 10 AM until 11 AM service on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church, 460 Riley Street in Dundee. Officiating will be the Rev. Katherine Kolodziejczyk, pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Monroe. Burial will follow the church services at Lenawee Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Tecumseh, Michigan.
