Obituary of James Edwin Brunt
James Edwin Brunt , age 88, of Azalia, passed away at 6:20 A.M., Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Bortz Health Care in Ypsilanti. He was born In Marshall, Illinois June 9, 1923 the son of Walter Wendell Brunt and his wife Lorna Doone Ooley. He attended the Azalia Country School and graduated from Dundee High School in 1941. He served his country in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946 in the chemical warfare division. He had served in the European and Pacific Theaters of operation. After his discharge from military service he worked at the Kaiser-Frazer Automobile Plant in Ypsilanti and then as a layout man and mill man at Universal Homes. He married the former Dolores E. Romero in November 1946 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ida. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1996. He retired at age 62 to help care for his mother and his in-laws. He also had farmed part time. He is a member of the Harry W. Bamm American Legion Post 72 in Dundee. James is survived by his wife and a son James Lee (Victoria) Brunt of Ann Arbor; three grandchildren Traci Gehringer, Alexa (Arnie) Gustafson and Christopher (Jenny) Brunt; six great-grandchildren Anthony, Dylan, Cephas, Moses, Ariel and Kyah. He was preceded in death by his daughter Jane Ellen Brunt and his parents. Friends may call on his birthday, Saturday, June 9, 2012 from 10 AM until 11 AM services at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156) Officiating will be Rev. Courtney Williams, pastor of the Azalia United Methodist Church. Military services will be conducted at the funeral service by the Dundee Veterans Military Group. .Cremation has been held at Tri-County Crematory in Ypsilanti.
