Obituary of Arnold D. Missler
Arnold D. “Arnie” Missler, 81, of Dundee, went home to be with the Lord on April 26, 2012, after suffering from a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by his loving family and in the care of Heartland Hospice. He was one of five children born from the union of the late Merlyn Missler and the late Grace (Heisler) Missler. He was born August 30, 1930 in Monroe Township. He moved to Dundee in 1938 when he was 8 years old. Arnie worked for his father’s cement block company until joining the Army in 1948, along with his brother Russell. On August 2, 1952 he married Carol Jean Rose. They were married for 34 years until her death in 1986. Arnie worked for Ford Motor Company-Rawsonville for 25 years, retiring in 1991 along with his brother Russell. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, NASCAR, the Detroit Tigers and hunting. He was a terrific father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
His memory will be forever cherished by four children: Deborah Missler of Dundee, Lori (Jeff) May of Dundee, Timothy Missler of Port Orange, FL. and Michelle (Mitch) McGuire of Port Orange, FL. He is the dear grandfather 0f five grandsons: Trent Nastos of Daytona Beach, FL; Troy (Jen) Nastos of Colorado Springs, CO; Justin (Stephanie) McGuire of Port Orange, FL; Jordan McGuire (Erin) of Daytona Beach, FL; and Dylan Missler of Dundee, MI. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Blake Balogh, Tyler and Isabella McGuire and Hailee Nastos and by two brothers, Warren Missler of Findlay, OH, and Russell (Janice) Missler of Dundee, MI and a sister Julie Elrod of PA. He will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Arnie was preceded in death by his two brothers, Robert J. and Gerald L. Missler, and a sister Arlene Schneider. Visitation in on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 1 – 8 P.M., at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156). Funeral service’s will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Cover Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Douglas Olsen, pastor of the Dundee United Methodist Church.
