Obituary of Betty J. Curley

Betty J. Curley, 83, of Petersburg, Michigan passed away at 10:20 A.M., Friday, March 23, 2012 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. She was born in Willis, Michigan July 4, 1928 the daughter of Evola Mae Miller and Royman P. Fish. She graduated from Onsted High School in 1946 and Cleary Business College in Ypsilanti in 1947, She married Henry J. (Hank) Curley December 31, 1950. He passed away April 19, 2008.. She was employed at the University of Michigan as an Administrative Assistant in the Law Library for 12 ½ years and Executive Secretary to the Dean of the School of Dentistry for 10 years, serving under 5 deans. She officially retired in 1989. She was a life member of Milan Chapter # 106. OES and served at Worthy Matron twice. She was a Den Mother for many years, and was an active member of the Dundee Methodist Church where she also taught Sunday School. She and Hank spent winters in Florida, living in Palmetto where she served on the Homeowners Board for six years as secretary. She was also active in the Palmetto Methodist Church. She leaves behind four sons Michael of Kalkaska County, Michigan, Mark (Elizabeth) of Tecumseh, Gregory of Dundee and Daniel (Rebecca) of Petersburg; and special son Pete Bonfiglio of Dundee; six grandchildren Jason, Daniel, Benjamin, Jared, Bobbi, and Courtney; three great-grandchildren Donovan, Hannah and Spencer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Henry; six brothers, Kenneth, Roy Jr., Edsel, Ernest, Delbert and Charles and three sisters, Phyllis Nichols, Barbara DeGroff and Donna Butler. Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, March 30 2012 at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156, 888-383-4176). Memorial funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the Dundee United Methodist Church, Sidney at Franklin Streets in Dundee. Officiating will be Rev. Douglas Olsen the pastor of the church. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Dundee. She was cremated at her request.
