Claire, Charlie and the whole Kanitz family, on behalf of the Copenhagen family, we of send our condolence. I can remember meeting your dad and mom (Joan) for the first time. They came over to our farm and welcomed us.From that day on it was a friendship our parents had. The first time we meet him, they had Charlie w/them and Chuck yelled at him I thought he was a mean man then I got to know him. Not a bad guy after all. Your family and mine shared, exchanged produce in the fall of the year for the winter. What a thing to do. It sure does not happen all that often these days. I would run into Chuck and Midge from time to time, little Shirley would see them at McDonald's from time to time also. We always remembered who he was. He lead a good long life here on earth. May you rest in peace, and you will never be forgotten. Chuck I do not reember if I ever told you, I married a farmer. Sure hope you got a good laugh now.(This was something only a few people knew about, me not ever wanting anything to do with farmers)

After my dad died in 1960, Chuck and Joan showed great kindness and love. They treated me like a son and taught me many important lessons. He was always amused and frustrated that he could not teach me to back up a 4 wheel wagon—but we all suffer minor failures in life. Chuck was successful at the important ones. He loved his family and did his best to teach them good values. After these 50 years of estrangement my feeling have not changed. I have loved him like a father and measured my actions by his yardstick. Rest in peace, you were a great man. Thank you, Bill
