Obituary of Clarence Ivancevic
Clarence Ralph Ivancevic, age 89, of Petersburg, Michigan, passed away Friday, August 5, 2011 at Lake Park Nursing Home in Sylvania under Comfort Care. He was born in Harrietta, Michigan July 3, 1922, the son of Emil and Ella (Hoesit) Ivancevic. He married Lily D. (Gruschow) Uhl June 14, 1973 at the Azalia United Methodist Church. Sadly Lily passed away July 13, 1997. He attended the Mesick, Michigan Consolidated Agricultural School. He also served in the United States Army from 1942-1945 during World War II. He served as a rifleman expert in Company C 135th Infantry, 34th Division and was at one time stationed in North Africa. Clarence came to Dundee in February of 1946 and stayed until June 1973 when he moved to Petersburg. He had worked for the CSX Railroad for 43 years, retiring in February 1989. He is survived by his sisters Julia Burkett and Vereah Maxwell, both of Cadillac, Michigan; also several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Lily, his parents, and a brother Albert Ivancevic. In accordance with his wishes there will be no formal viewing at the funeral home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Pleasant View Cemetery in Petersburg, Michigan. Officiating will be the Rev. Mark Flory, pastor of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Petersburg. Graveside military services will be conducted by the Summerfield VFW Post 6509. Memorials in Clarence’ memory may be made to any charity of the donor’s choice.
