Obituary of Isabelle A. Gordon

Isabelle A. Gordon, age 96, of Petersburg, passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 at Lenawee Medical care in Adrian where she had been a resident for the past 5 ½ years.. Her love of music was a joy to the residents as she was a great pianist and played for all who were willing to listen. She was born in Wauseon, Ohio April 11, 1915 to Joseph and Anna (Reichhardt) Steinbrecher, the oldest of seven siblings. She married Dilton Glen Gordon on March 8, 1934 at St. John Lutheran Church in Dundee. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1984. Sadly, Glen passed away March 6, 1995. In younger years she was an extremely active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Dundee where she played the piano and organ and was a member of the Ladies Aide Society. She was also confirmed as well as was married at St. John. She graduated from Petersburg High School in 1933.. She and her husband Glen had owned and operated Gordon Well Drilling Service in Petersburg for many years. She had also played for the silent movies in the Petersburg Theater many years ago. Her survivors include a daughter, JoAnne Murrey of Adrian, son Leroy (Butch) (Pat) Gordon of Tipton; grandchildren Pen, Shain, Phil, Valeri, and Glenda; great-grandchildren Emma, Jacob, Cara, Amy, Beth, Dereck, Cole, Kirstyn, Paige, and Amber; great-great-grandson Tyson; sister Dorothy Mae (Orville) Garst of Petersburg, and also many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, son Norman L. Gordon in 1987, brothers Floyd, Lewis, Robert, and sisters Erma Winkelman and Helena Wiech. Friends may call on Monday from 2 – 9 P.M. at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156) She will lie in state on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. service at St. John Lutheran Church, 460 Riley Street in Dundee. Officiating will be Rev. Annette Griffin. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Petersburg. Memorials may be made to Rev.
