Obituary of Marian L. Ternes

Marian L. Ternes, age 84, of Dundee, Michigan, passed away at 7:11 AM, Friday, March 31, 2017 at Huron Woods at Ann Arbor with her family at her side. She was born February 21, 1933 in Dundee the daughter of Thomas and Laura (Hartwig) Dettloff. She graduated from Dundee High School in 1952 and married Anthony F. (Tony) Ternes February 14, 1953 at St. Irene Catholic Church in Dundee. Sadly he passed away September 18, 2000. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ida. She was married at St. Irene Catholic Church and will be buried from St. Gabriel Parish/St. Irene Campus where she was an active member for most of her life. She was a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Lynn C. Weeman American Legion Post 514 in Ida. At St. Irene she was a member of the Altar Society and the worship committee; was a member of the Dundee Athletic Booster Club; was an avid card player and played euchre with Tony and friends; always went to her children’s sporting and school events. Every year they would spend one week vacationing as a family at Houghton Lake which they all looked forward to. She is survived by children Fred (the late Diana) Ternes of Farmington Hills; Dan and Jeanne Ternes of Monroe; Bill and Gloria Ternes of Dundee; Marie (Mark) Smetka of Britton; Mike and Vonda Ternes of St. Augustine; Judy (Mike) Henning of Petersburg; grandchildren Gayle (Charlie) Keider; Karen (Justin) Boczkaja; Kristen Ternes; Danielle (Jason) Turner; Cristy (Justin) Gulliver; Brad (Ashley) Ternes; Aaron (Jenna) Ternes ; Chris Ternes; Marcus (Michelle) Smetka; Adam Smetka; Jace Ternes; Cari Ternes; Matt (Laura) Wadsworth; Kim (Kenny) Worden; Alicia Wadsworth, Dwayne Henning and Caitlin Henning; 22 great-grandchildren; brothers Richard (Nannette) Dettloff of Garden City and Norman Dettloff of Dundee; sister Margaret Dettloff of Dundee. She was preceded by her parents, husband and brothers Edwin, Charles, Harold (Bub), Clarence, Robert and Leonard. Friends may call from 1 - 8 PM Monday, April 3, 2017 at Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh St in Dundee. She will lie in state from 10:30 AM until 11 AM Mass at St. Gabriel Parish/St. Irene Campus Tuesday, April 4, 2017. Rosary Monday 7 PM at the funeral home. Officiating Rev. Dr. Michael Woroniewicz.
