Obituary of Donna J. Hoevemeyer

Donna J. Hoevemeyer, age 81, of Dundee, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at her home under the care of her family and hospice. She was born in Dundee, Michigan on January 13, 1936 the daughter of Nathan (Joe) and Dorothy (Hiser) Uhl. . She graduated from Dundee High School in 1953 and joined the US Air Force serving from 1954-1955 as an A-2C. She married Kurt Hoevemeyer July 8, 1961 at the old United Methodist Church in Dundee.She started working for the post office in Dundee then applied for and was accepted as postmaster at the Romulus and Whittaker Post Offices retiring in 1995 after 30 years of postal service. She is a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Dundee. She enjoyed painting, traveling, going on cruises, reading, sewing, cooking and baking. She is also a Past Commander of the Moore-Lenz-Wakefield VFW Post 6462 of Dundee. Her survivors include her husband Kurt; sons Gregory (Wendy) Hoevemeyer of Monroe and Steve (Lori) Hoevemeyer of Midland; daughter Vicki Hoevemeyer (Bill Miller of Palatine, ILL; brother Dale (Janet) Uhl of South Carolina; 8 grandchildren Amanda Hovemeyer, Allison Hoevemeyer, Brandon Rhode, Kaitlyn Hoevemeyer, Krista Hoevemeyer, Ashtin Gandy, Bryce Gandy and Carin Hoevemeyer; 4 great-grandchildren Vance Garcia, Eve Garcia, Callysta Rhode and Collin Rhode. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son Jeffrey in 1992. Friends may call on Friday from 3 – 8 PM at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156). She will lie in state on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 10 AM until 11 AM services at St. John Lutheran Church in Dundee. Officiating will be the Rev. Jennifer Kiefer, church pastor.
