Marjorie Neal (West) Cramer entered her heavenly home on the morning of Tuesday, June 18, 2013 with her son, Carl, and daughter - in - law, Diana, at her side. She was lovingly taken care of at Hospice of NW Ohio in Perrysburg. She died from complications of diabetes.
Marjorie was born to Monte Carr "Dock" West and Clara (Partin) West of LaSalle, MI, on October 30, 1928. She lived most of her life in Monroe, with her earlier years spent in northern Ohio, LaSalle, and Newport. She graduated in 1946 from Monroe High School. She enlisted in the US Navy in 1948 and was stationed at Great Lakes near Chicago, IL. She was honorably discharged in 1951. She worked numerous jobs including Newport State Bank and retired from JC Penney in Monroe.
She married Carl F. Cramer of Monroe, in November 1949. He preceded her in death in December 2001. Marjorie is survived by children, Mary (Rollin) Webb of Newport, MI; John (Becky) Cramer of Casa Grande, AZ; Carol (Tom) Cramer-Longworth of Ypsilanti, MI; Marjorie J. Cramer of Monroe, MI; Barbara (Scott) Edwards of Alto, MI; Carl (Diana) Cramer of Ida, MI; and Andrew (Wendy) Cramer of Toledo, OH. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, many nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Ruth Haessler of Ypsilanti, MI, and sisters Jane Tomlinson of Van Wert, OH, and Joann K. West of Monroe, MI. Her parents, siblings Janette Schildknecht, Verda Ann West, Jackie West, Alfred West, daughter Carla Zahn, and 1 great-great grandchild preceded Marjorie in death.
Marjorie enjoyed visits with her grandchildren and attending their plays, sporting events, and birthday parties. She enjoyed listening to Big Band music, reading, and watching old movies. She was the last Cramer to live at her husband's family homestead on East Third in Monroe which has been in the family for 190 years.
According to her wishes Marjorie has been cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 N. Monroe St., Monroe, from 1:45pm - 3:45pm. At 3:45pm Marjorie will be honored with a military ceremony which will be followed with a Christian service at 4pm. Pastor Jeffrey Heimsoth of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate.
