Obituary of Bruce Ray Lewis

Bruce Ray Lewis, age 67, of Britton (Dundee Twp), Michigan passed away at the emergency room of Herrick Memorial Hospital in Tecumseh on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on September 23, 1946 the son of Perry and La Rue (Williams) Lewis. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1965. He worked for the GM Hydramatic Plant from 1965 until he was drafted in 1966 into the US Army. He was stationed in Viet Nam from 1966-1967 as a Spec 5. He then was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky as an E-5. Following military service he resumed his employment at Hydramatic. From 1968 until 1986 he went to work for the Ford Motor Co. Bruce loved to hunt, fish and read but mostly loved life and his family. He was married to Karen J. Miller in Ypsilanti on September 18, 1987 by Magistrate Charles J. Pope. He is survived by his beloved wife Karen; his children Denise (Donald) Jones, Barbara Albright, Kim (William) Coulter and Todd Albright; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother James Lewis of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, 2 brothers and a half sister. Friends may call on Friday, June 20, 2014 from 1 – 8 PM at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh St, Dundee (734-529-3156). He will lie in state at St. John Lutheran Church in Dundee on Saturday from 10 AM until 11 AM funeral services. Officiating will be Rev. Jen Kiefer, pastor of St. John. Graveside services will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dundee. Military honors will be conducted by the Dundee Veterans Military Group.
