Obituary of Lee Hibbs

Lee Duane Hibbs was born in Mt. Clemons, Michigan on August 1, 1948. He was one of three children born from the union of Gwendolyn (Ransom) Hibbs and the late Wayne Hibbs. Lee attended Hobart Schools in Hobart, Indiana graduating from their high school in 1966. He moved from Hobart to Monroe to take employment with the airlines. For more than thirty years, Lee supported his family as an air freight and cargo laborer. He retired in 2004 from Northwest Airlines in Romulus. Lee was a caring and kind individual who always had a positive outlook on life and a great sense of humor. He loved his family very much and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. Lee had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his dog "Oliver." He appreciated the outdoors by walking Oliver and hanging out by his fish pond. During his quiet time, Lee liked to read and listened to Classic Rock and enjoyed watching his favorite baseball team, the Chicago Cubs. Lee also was an automobile enthusiast, owning several different "nice" vehicles throughout his life. Lee Duane Hibbs age 64 of Monroe passed away at 2:53am, Monday, June 17, 2013 at his home. His passing was preceded by his father Wayne Hibbs. To cherish his memory Lee leaves two daughters: Teressa (Daniel) Robbins of St. Clair, Michigan and Renee (Chad) Guthrie of Monroe; two brothers: Terry (Trina) Hibbs of Monroe and Dale (Kathi) Hibbs of Hawks, Michigan; and five grandchildren: Jack, Avrie, Grace, Faith and Madelyn. Friends may gather from 3:00pm until 5:00pm on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe St. Monroe, Michigan (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His life will take place at 5:00pm with Brian S. Merkle of Merkle Funeral Service officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Humane Society of Monroe.
