Obituary of Eldon A. Sontag

Eldon A. Sontag, age 84, a lifetime resident and farmer in Dundee Township passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at his home under the care of his family and hospice. He was born in the house next to where he lived and passed away. He was born on June 3, 1929 the son of Albert and Lucia (Gaertner) Sontag. He married Norma J. Holcomb on May 1, 1954 at St. John Lutheran Church where he was baptized, confirmed and married. Officiating at their marriage was the Rev. Fred Cesler. Eldon had farmed his entire but had also worked at the Tecumseh Products Company for 35 years. He served on the church council at St. John, was a member of the finance committee and the church Dartball League. He is survived by his wife Norma; children Jeffrey (Linda) Sontag of Dundee, Kevin (Kathy) Sontag of Temperance, Collette (Donald) Korican of Britton and Philip (Debbie) Sontag of Dundee; grandchildren James Sontag, Debby (Zachary) Cheema, Kristopher Sontag, Kaci Sontag, Sara (Michael) Bonnough, Kristen Korican and Jeremiah Pilbeam; great grandson Gabriel Sontag. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Olena Sontag. Friends and family will gather at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156) on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 2 –8 P.M. He will lie in state at St. John Lutheran Church, 460 Riley Street in Dundee, Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 10 AM until 11 AM services. Officiating will be the Rev. Jen Kiefer, pastor of the church. Interment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Dundee.
