Obituary of Helen Voigt

Helen Sagan was born in Ida, Michigan on July 1, 1926. She was one of five children born from the union of the late Felix Sagan and the late Anna (Wiesniewski) Sagan. She attended Ida Schools. On April 19, 1947 she married the love of her life Samuel F. Voigt Sr. From this union would come the birth of three children. Helen was a homemaker, and first and foremost she took care of her husband. A close second was the needs of her children. Helen later in life would become the world's greatest grandmother, and of course her grandchildren were perfect. She was an amazing woman, she was sharp, and could work rings around people half her age. More than anything, Helen, enjoyed cooking for and entertaining all thirty-three of her family members for the major holidays: Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Helen enjoyed crocheting, sewing playing cards, canning, and gardening. Helen was a member of St. Michael Church. Helen Voigt age 86 of LaSalle passed away at 5:07am, Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Mercy Memorial Hospital. In addition to her parents and her husband Samuel on May 10, 2011 her passing was preceded by three brothers: Edward Sagan, John Sagan, and Walter Sagan; and one sister: Mary Jane Williams. To cherish her memory she leaves a son: Samuel (Jennifer) Voigt Jr. of Lake Orion, Michigan; two daughters: Marcia Greening of Monroe and Kati (Jerry) Cobb of Monroe; ten grandchildren: Kolee, Kara, Ben, Jason, Becca, Krissy, Samuel III, Teddy, Nick, and Stacy; and fifteen great grandchildren: Samantha, Grace, Cole, Jacob, Sophie, Avery, Benjamin, Trentton, Steven, Nolan, Samantha, Ashlynn, Kimber, Corbyn, and Nicholas Jr. Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm, Friday, June 14, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe (734) 241-7070 (formerly Bennett Funeral Services) where the Rosary will be recited at 6:00pm. Friends may also gather from 10:00am until a funeral service at 1:00pm, Saturday, June 15, 2013 also at Merkle's. Father Stephen Vileo pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church will officiate. Procession will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery in Ida for burial. Memorial donations for those who desire are suggested to Mercy Memorial Hospice.
