Obituary of LeRoy Perry
LeRoy D. Perry, age 84, of Petersburg, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio. He was born in Deerfield, Michigan July 14, 1926 to Vern and Mildred (Miller) Perry. He married Carol Jean Knack on July 17, 1948 at the Methodist Church in Monroe. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1998. LeRoy served in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper during World War II. He was employed at Woodall Industries in Monroe for 30 years, Roadway for 12 years and was also a self employed carpenter and brick mason. He loved the outdoors and especially gardening, deer hunting, fishing, and bow and arrow. His survivors include his wife Carol Jean Perry, four sons, Gerald LeRoy (Marie) Perry of Dundee, Allan Gene (Virgie) Perry of Calif, Ronald Lee Perry of Tecumseh and Rick Charles (Theresa) Perry of Calif, a daughter Barbara Ann (Ray) DeMaria of Peoria, Illinois; 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; four brothers George (Alberta) Perry of Dundee, Bernard (Marilyn) Perry of Ottawa Lake, LaVerne Theodore ( Ethel ) Perry of Gaylord, one sister Lola Lee Reau of Blissfield, sister in law Ilene Perry of Petersburg. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Alvin. Friends may call on Thursday from 1 – 9 P.M. at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156) His funeral will take place Friday, July 8, 2011 at the funeral home at 1:00 P.M. Officiating will be the Rev. Douglas Olsen pastor of the Dundee United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Petersburg. Military graveside honors will be provided by the Summerfield VFW Post 6509.
