Obituary of Nancy JoAnn Schafer

Nancy J. Schafer January 25, 1965 – March 8, 2011 Nancy J. Schafer, 46, of Dundee, passed away suddenly Tuesday afternoon on March 8th. Friends may call Friday from 6 – 9 PM and Saturday from 1 – 9 PM at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156). She will lie in state Sunday, March 13, 2011 from 2:00 PM until services at 3:00 PM at the Dundee United Methodist Church. A funeral luncheon will immediately follow the church service. Officiating will be Rev. Douglas Olsen, pastor of the church. Private burial will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery in Dundee. Memorials may be made in her memory to the Dundee United Methodist Church, 645 Franklin Street, Dundee, MI 48131. Nancy was born in Monroe to Paul Schafer and JoAnn (Miller)(Schafer) Wilfong. She graduated from Dundee High School Class of 1983, attended Monroe Community College and began her employment with the United States Postal Service in Ida. She transferred to a full time carrier position in Dundee in October 1993. Nancy lived her entire life in Dundee and was well known by everyone in town whether they were senior citizens, children, or those in between. She always had a smile and a wave for everyone. She was a member of the Dundee United Methodist Church and its Administrative Board. She was currently the chairperson of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee. She was an avid reader and was a familiar face at the library. She also attended most Dundee village and township meetings as a concerned citizen. Nancy is survived by her mother JoAnn Wilfong of Monroe, sister Jill (James) Bradley of Monroe; nephew Jordan Bradley and niece Jenna Bradley; her grandmother Dorothy Miller of Monroe.
