Marjorie Edith Busz
June 19, 1922 – August 30, 2017
Marjorie Edith (Bowman) Busz, 95, of Dundee, MI, a local historian and community leader, passed away on August 30, 2017 in her home under the care of St. Joseph Mercy Hospice.
Born June 19, 1922 in Dundee, she was the daughter of Verne and Ethel (Spaulding) Bowman. She attended Dundee High School. Marjorie married Floyd S. Busz on November 12, 1938. Floyd passed away on July 22, 1990.
From 1944-1945 Marjorie was one of the original “Rosie the Riviters” at the Bomber Plant in Ypsilanti, MI. She was employed by Yeck Manufacturing, Dundee Plumbing & Heating and the Grapevine Restaurant. As a community leader Marjorie was a Blue Bird and Cub Scout leader, active member of the VFW Auxiliary, Dundee Women’s Civic Organization, Old Mill
Restoration Committee, Dundee Fire Department Auxiliary, Dundee Athletic Boosters, Monroe County Geneology Society, Dundee Parks & Recreation Board, and the Historical Preservation Society of Dundee. She was also a member of the Dundee United Methodist Church and the Dundee Area Senior Citizen. Marjorie’s passion for history lead to the founding of the Old Mill Museum in Dundee. For Marjorie’s service to the community, she was recognized with receiving two Minuteman and The Citizen of the Year Award from the Village of Dundee and Dundee Township.
She is survived by her children Shirley (Vaughn) Massingill, Charlotte (Mickey) Freshour, Robert ( Helen) Busz of Dundee, Richard ( Sandra) Busz of Boyne, Falls, Michigan, eighteen grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren, twelve great-great grandchildren and niece Shirley (Bowman) Barnier. Marjorie was proceeded in death by her husband, parents, brother LeRoy Bowman, grandson Brian Busz, nephews John Bowman and James Bowman.
Family and friends may visit Friday from 12 pm to 8 pm at Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156), services will be held Saturday at 11 am in the Dundee United Methodist Church. Pastor Andy Baek will officiate. Grave side services will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
