Obituary of Laura Mae Askew Fernstrom

Laura Mae Askew (Fernstrom) age 90 of Baudette, Minnesota formerly of Petersburg, Michigan died Dec. 16, 2016. Cremains interment will be held at 11 AM, Friday, June 2, 2017 at Pleasant View Cemetery in Petersburg. Officiating will be the retired Rev. Michael Clemmer. Local arrangements were handled by Cover Funeral Home of Dundee. She was born in International Falls, MN March 21, 1926 the daughter of Frank and Elnora McGuire. She married Jack Fernstrom in 1947. They moved to Michigan in 1951. She worked at the Petersburg Foodtown for 28 years as a cashier and Wws active in the Petersburg Civic League and WAS A LIFE MEMBER OF THE Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a former member of the Petersburg United Methodist Church. She moved back to Minnesota in 2013. She is survived by a step-daughter Kathy Askew-Flores; 2 step grandchildren; niece Joan Reau of Baudette, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, the former mayor of Petersburg and a sister Margaret Thompson.
