Obituary of LeRoy Wright

LeRoy "Roy" Wright was born in Vinson, Oklahoma on June 24, 1933 and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was an only child born from the union of the late B.B. Wright and Janie (Williams) Wright. Roy honorably served in the United States Army where he met the love of his life and married the late Charlotte (Kaiser) Wright, on August 21, 1954 in Monroe, Michigan. Roy took service to his community very seriously. He supported his family as a Motor Carrier Inspector for the Michigan State Police for over 29 years. Roy was a member of the Erie Township Volunteer Firefighter for ten years reaching the rank of Assistant Chief. He also served as the Supervisor of Erie Township from 1985 until 1990, and was a Cub Scout leader for more than ten years. Roy was extremely personable. He was well liked and enjoyed joking with others. Roy was a jack-of-all-trades and had the ability to make anything work. Roy and Charlotte enjoyed the outdoors as members of the "Black Hawk" motorcycle club. In his quiet time, he enjoyed leather work; making belts, wallets, and purses. LeRoy "Roy" Wright, age 79 of Erie passed away on June 4, 2013 at Sunset House in Toledo. In addition to his parents and his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Charlotte his passing was preceded by a son: Steven Wright; and a brother-in-law: Richard Kaiser. To cherish his memory, he leaves behind two sons: Karl (Sue) Wright of Ottawa Hills, Ohio and Tim Wright (Ashley Kody) of Toledo, Ohio; one brother-in-law: Marvin "Barney" (Marilyn) Kaiser; a sister-in-law: Marion Kaiser; and two grandchildren: Adam and Quinn Wright of Ottawa Hills, Ohio. Friends may gather from 12:00pm until 4:00pm on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, Erie 9156 Summit Street (734) 848-5185. Members of Erie VFW Post 3925 will provide veterans honors at 4:00pm followed by a Celebration of His Life officiated by Pastor Craig Scholl of Memorial Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northwest Ohio and LIFE (Meals on Wheels for Monroe County).
