Obituary of Mildred C. Cromwell

Mildred Carmen Cromwell, age 94 of Dundee and formerly of Independence and Orion Townships in Oakland County, passed away at 5:35 A.M., Tuesday January 14, 2014 at Warsaw Meadows Care Center in Warsaw , Indiana. She was born September 23, 1919 in Wayne County, Missouri the daughter of Matthew and Ina (McGee) Schatz. As a young girl they moved to Pontiac where she attended school. She graduated from beauty school and became a hairdresser until her marriage. She was also a car hop as a young girl at Elias Brothers Restaurant in the 1930’s in Bloomfield Hills. She was also a Home Interior and Gifts dealer. The family owned and operated the Moose Head Inn on Dixie Hwy in Holly. She married Clarence G. Cromwell on December 11, 1939_in Napoleon, Ohio. He passed away suddenly July 12, 1989 at their home in Orion Township. They were married for 49 years. She was a true believer and spent her entire life in the church and was a lifetime student of the Bible. She and her husband were founding members of Shekinah Temple Assembly of God in Waterford. With advancing age and health issues she moved to Dundee and was a former resident of Rawson Place Senior Housing. Millie is survived by her son Lloyd (Janet) Cromwell of Mount Vernon, Ohio; daughters Marilyn (Charles) Crowley of Meridianville, Alabama, Linda (Terry) Gray of Goshen, Indiana and Cheryl (Sherry)(Robert) Cover of Dundee; son in law Jack Carney of Hazel Green, Alabama; eleven grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-greatgrandchild; brothers Wayne (Florence) Schatz of Millersburg and David (Esther) Schatz of Napoleon. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Karen Sue Carney and grandson Jack Carney, brother and sister in law Lee and Lucille Schatz. Friends may call on Friday from 1 – 8 P.M. at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156). Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 18, 2014. Officiating will be Rev. Douglas Olsen, pastor of the Dundee United Methodist Church.
