Obituary of William "Bill" Edward Warden

William Edward Warden was born on February 5, 1939 in Jackson, Michigan. He was one of five children born from the union of his parents: the late Gerald J. Warden and the late Erma F. (Brendahl) Warden. He received his education by attending Wayne Memorial High School and graduated with the Class of 1957. He enlisted in the National Guard and proudly served his country.

Bill decided to further his education and pursued a career as a police officer. He was sworn in as the first police officer at Westland Police Department in October of 1966. He took his job very seriously and dedicated his life to helping others until retiring in January of 1991.

When he wasn’t patrolling, he enjoyed woodworking and has built cabinets for himself and for his family and friends. He was a lifetime member of the Swan Creek Boat Club where he made many lasting friendships with his fellow captains. Together they have spent countless hours on Lake Erie and have taken many trips to Putin Bay.

He was a natural dog lover and always had the companionship of a four-legged friend. In his younger years, he took an interest in breeding yellow labs. His kind heart and passion for helping others are just a few things that will be deeply missed by his family and friends and anyone who knew him.

William Edward Warden, age 80 of Newport, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2019 in his home. His passing is preceded by his wife: Loretta Warden; his brother: Leslie Warden and his sister: Janet Barnett and her husband Robert.

To cherish his memory, he leaves behind his children: Theresa (Raymond) Korte, Lawrence (Penny) Warden, Denise (George) Davis and Billie (Ron) Navarro; his brothers: Jerry Warden and Douglas (Brenda) Warden; multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.
