Obituary of Donald Christopher McCollister
Donald Christopher McCollister was born on August 15, 1959 in Dearborn, Michigan. He was one of three boys born from the union of his parents: the late Donald McCollister and the late Teresa (Molner) McCollister. He received his education by attending John Glenn High School and graduated with the Class of 1977.
Donald worked hard his entire life and had a solid work ethic. He worked many years in the shipping and receiving department at Schoolcraft College and most recently working as a porter for Friendly Ford in Monroe. He was blessed with one son: Robert.
Donald was a natural outdoorsman who spent countless hours fishing, hunting, grilling, and camping. He enjoyed the simple things in life. To know Donald was to love him, and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Donald Christopher McCollister, age 59, of Monroe passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, May 2, 2019. His passing is preceded by his parents.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his loving son: Robert (Devon) McCollister of Newport; his brothers: Lawrence (Lisa) McCollister and Craig McCollister; and his grandsons: Kasey and Avery. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends.
Friends may gather on Monday, May 6, 2019 from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will follow at 3:00pm also at Merkle’s with Pastor Roy Southerland officiating from Monroe Missionary Baptist Church.
