Obituary of Elmer "Ray" Ray Coger
Elmer “Ray” Coger was born March 15, 1961 in Toledo, Ohio. He was one of three children born from the union of his parents: the late Donald Coger and Judy Coger-Haas. His long career in engineering and design brought him to his current position with McLaren Engineering in Livonia, where his work gave him great satisfaction and pride.
Ray had a passion for motorcycles and spent countless hours riding, building and talking about them with friends and fellow riders. His sense of humor and his reputation for shenanigans preceded him; he had a wonderful gift for making others laugh. While he kept his social circle small, he considered his friends “family”, and they enriched his life greatly.
Over the course of 20 years, Ray and his girlfriend, Jessica, created a happy life, built on laughter, love, and a long line of cats.
Elmer “Ray” Coger, age 57, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. His passing is preceded by his son: Jeremy Coger; and his father: Donald Coger.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his fiancé and companion of over 20 years: Jessica Shear; his mother: Judy Coger-Haas; his children: Tara (Matt) Carpenter, Austin Coger and Adam Coger; his brother: Rick Coger; his sister: Marguerite “Tweety” Bienko; his grandchildren: Marissa and Brenden and many extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of His Life will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 11:00am at The Letter Carriers Union Hall 4437 Woodville Road in Northwood, Ohio 43619. Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734)384-5185.
