Obituary of Earnest Denvill Paschall

Earnest Denvill Paschall was born in Nashville, Tennessee on June 12, 1935.   He was one of five children born from the union of the late Doc Paschall and the late Vera (Rigan) Paschall.

Earnest “Dink” married the love of his life, the former, Betty Jean Maddox on November 9, 1956 in Franklin, Kentucky.   The couple would share in the birth of two children:  Jerry and Patrice.   In his early 20’s, Earnest was employed by a fiberglass company.   He also served as President of the Union.

The young family would make their home in Nashville, Tennessee until 1969 when they moved to Michigan.   Earnest would take a position with Detroit Diesel dedicating fifteen years of service.   He would then switch to General Motors where he would work an additional twenty years before retiring.

Dink enjoyed staying active.   He liked to box, ride motorcycles and dirt bikes, and take daily walks for exercise.   Dink and Betty had a cabin in Northern Michigan near Meauwataka where they loved to vacation.   Dink was a fighter.  Being challenged with colon cancer while in his late 50’s did not slow him down, which in turn he beat.   He was an example, a positive father figure to his grandchildren, teaching some to drive, ride motorcycles, play sports, and to be handy and fix things.

Earnest valued nothing more in this life then his wife and children.

“Dink”, age 84, of Dundee passed away peacefully at his home on February 17, 2019 after a valiant six-year fight with cancer.   His influence on the lives of those around him will last throughout the recipients’  lifetime.   In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by four siblings:  Murray Paschall, Wallace Paschall, Ocie Jarrell, Billy Paschall.

To cherish his memory, Earnest leaves two children: Jerry (Christiva) Paschall and Patrice (Kevin) Hoag; six grandchildren: Andria Lamburger, Gary Kingins, Randi Shankleton, Katy Pickell, Kristy Leverenz and Christopher Leverenz; eight great grandchildren: Jack, Cole, Mason, Bailee, Jaxon, Aiden, Addyson, and Evelyn.

No public services are planned at this time.   Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, Dundee; 297 Tecumseh Street (734) 529-3156.
