Obituary of Mary J Hanlon

Mary Hanlon, 94, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, January 22, 2019. She was formerly from Trenton, Michigan and Lehigh Acres, Florida.

Mary was born on March 18, 1924 in Butler, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Thomas and Catherine (May) Behta. Mary married Clarence “Pat” Hanlon on October 13, 1947. He preceded her in death on November 26, 2001. Mary was a homemaker and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Erie, Michigan.  She was very active and lived life to the fullest. Mary loved people and would strike up a conversation with someone wherever she went. Her sweet demeanor and great sense of humor drew people to her and put a smile on everyone’s face. Mary enjoyed traveling, entertaining, playing cards, word search puzzles, shopping and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are her five children, Carol Green, Charles (Annette) Hanlon, Russell (Annette) Hanlon, Janet (William) Childress and Bryan (Carolyn) Hanlon, eleven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and Paul Behta and three sisters, Julia Scharf, Pauline Lamphar and Stella Szelles and a grandson, Donald Green, III.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2214 Manhattan Street, Erie, Michigan on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 10:30 AM. Procession will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery for Inurnment.
