Obituary of Gloria Mae Stumpmier
Gloria Mae Siebarth was born on March 14, 1927 in Monroe, Michigan. She was one of ten children born from the union of the late Albert and the late Clara (Kraehnke) Siebarth. She was an eighth grade graduate from Trinity Lutheran School where she was also baptized and confirmed.
Gloria met the love of her life, Frederick William Stumpmier, and they were married at Trinity on December 16, 1944. From their union came the birth of six children. Gloria supported the needs of her husband and children as a farmer’s wife. She loved to spend time with her family, serving as a Cub Scout mother for many years, and being involved with 4-H.
Gloria was quite the homebody. She painstakingly cared for her home keeping it extremely organized. This passion was even instilled in her children. Gloria loved her flowers, even into her nineties, she could be found tending to her beautiful gardens, and keeping her yard and home pristine. She loved completing crafts, cooking for family and friends. In her spare time, Gloria enjoyed playing bingo often visiting the Carleton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post to play. As an avid fan, Gloria liked to root for her hometown team the Detroit Red Wings.
Gloria Mae Stumpmier, age 91, of South Rockwood, passed away at 3:33pm on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at her home. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her beloved husband, Frederick William Stumpmier in 2005, her daughter: Karen Shelton; and six siblings.
To cherish her memory, Gloria leaves her children: William (Gail) Stumpmier of South Rockwood, Albert Stumpmier of Taylor, Dennis (Dee) Stumpmier of Arizona, Kenny (Judy) Stumpmier of Florida and Bob Stumpmier of South Rockwood; one sister: Jarlene Sklenar of Wisconsin; and one brother: Elmer Siebarth of Monroe; one son-in-law: David Shelton; ten grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
Friends may gather on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. She will lie-in-state on Friday, January 25 from 10:00am until a Funeral Service at 11:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church. Private interment will take place at Michigan Memorial Park.
