Obituary of Norman Gordon Beamer
Norman Gordon Beamer, age 60 of Newport, passed away at 12:45am on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at his home.
Norman was born on December 28, 1958 in Toledo, Ohio. He was one of five children born to Violet Emmaline (Freeman) Beamer. Norman graduated from Ida High School in 1976.
He married the love of his life, Norma May Miller on September 17, 1983 in Monroe. Together the couple would raise their four children. Norman supported his family as the sole proprietor of Can-Do-Systems Painting Company for twenty years. He was passionate about his work and taught his children the importance of a good work ethic. Norman was also well loved by his customers. For four years, Norman was employed by Bay Corrugated in Monroe until his 2012 medical retirement due to health reasons.
Norman belonged to the American Legion in Ida. He also enjoyed golf, hunting up-north and in Hillsdale, and held a first-degree black belt in martial arts. Norman was a dedicated father and grandfather, attending all of their events until his health precluded it. His family fondly recalls his performing backflips to amuse them and all of the neighborhood kids. His children remember him teaching them to shoot a bow and arrow.
Norman had a very dry sense of humor and could be quite matter-of-fact. He was a cherished friend to many because of his reserved personality and excellent listening skills. Norman loved classic rock and roll and was a plethora of knowledge in regards to rock trivia. Norman was well known for his “Papa’s Pocket Candy”, always offering up a sweet treasure to anyone in need of a pick me up.
Norman leaves to cherish his memory; his wife: Norma Beamer; mother: Violet Beamer; mother-in-law: Elenore Miller; two sons: Norman Beamer of Toledo, Namron (Angela) Beamer of Monroe; daughter: Lyndsei-Nicole (Jeffery) Tuttle Jr. of Monroe; two brothers: Christy Beamer of Toledo and Irving (Misty) Strack of Newport; two sisters: Nadine Raymer-Moore of Luna Pier and Valerie Benoit of Monroe; three grandchildren: Jeffery Tuttle of Newport, and Nathaniel Beamer and Camron Beamer both of Monroe, as well as many friends and relatives.
