Obituary of Charlene Elizabeth Hampton
Charlene Elizabeth Triplett was born on September 27, 1942 in Ecorse, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late Charles Triplett and Elizabeth (Smith) Triplett. Following high school she attended trade school at Bennett Hoyt.
Charlene was the beloved wife of Vernis Hampton. The couple became married in the presence of family, friends and the Lord on July 27, 1963 in Ecorse. Together they would be the proud and loving parents to two daughters: Colleen and Chandra. For twenty-five years, Charlene, was employed by Great Lakes Steel. She worked as a computer programmer retiring in 1989.
Her outgoing personality and positive outlook on life was contagious to all who knew her. Charlene was known for her selfless nature, always looking to take care of those around her, first. She had a strong faith and knew that Christ was with her, no matter the struggle. Family and faith were the two most important things in her life. She took every opportunity possible to share Christ, especially with her loved ones.
Charlene shared her love of angels and wholesome Christian programming. Over the years she had accumulated quite the collection of angels that she proudly displayed throughout her home and shared with her children, grandchildren and friends. Charlene was also known throughout her community for her pristine garden and was often witnessed during the summer months tending to the flowers in her front yard.
Charlene Elizabeth Hampton, age 76, of South Rockwood, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her brother-in-law: Claude Schultz.
To cherish her memory, she leaves her beloved husband: Vernis Hampton of South Rockwood; two cherished daughters: Colleen (Dennis) Bowdler and Chandra (Nicholas) Salinas both of Rockwood; six adored grandchildren: Gavin Pauwels, Chase Bowdler, Aidan Bowdler, Tristan Bowdler, Gabriella Salinas and Grayson Salinas; and two sisters: Catherine Schultz and Christina (Lou) Salute.
Friends may gather on Monday, January 21, 2019 from 3:00pm until 9:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 and also on Tuesday, January 22 from 10:00am until A Celebration of Her Life at 11:00am. Procession will follow to Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery for entombment.
