Obituary of Curtis Eladio Alcala

Curtis Eladio Alcala, age 55 of Monroe Township, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 12, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer.

 

Curtis was born on August 25, 1963 in Adrian, Michigan. He was one of two children born from the union of Eladio Alcala and the late Margaret (Herrera) Alcala.

 

Curtis graduated from Adrian High School in 1982 and went on to complete college classes required for a pharmacy career. He was the father of four sons and supported his family by working at the Walmart Pharmacy in Monroe for 23 years before retiring in 2017 due to health issues.

 

Curtis was very much a home body who loved being around his children and attended all of their activities. He was an avid gamer and particularly enjoyed playing Skyrim with his kids. Curtis was also a Chicago Bears fan to the max. His sons remember him as very much a guiding force in their lives. Curtis loved his family, but also liked his private time as well. He was very strong-willed, yet very understanding at the same time. Curtis was also very honest and very principled as well. When he made a commitment, he would always honor it. Curtis was also an avid story writer, poet and artist. He created amazingly detailed figurines out of clay. He was very talented and creative.

 

Curtis leaves to cherish his memory his four sons, Christopher Eladio Alcala of Grand Blanc, MI, Kyle Anthony Alcala of Oxford, MI, Blane Alexander Alcala of Monroe, Dalton James Alcala of Monroe; his sister Connie Ellen Alcala-Thomas of Palm Bay FL; two granddaughters, Victoria Alcala and Emilia Alcala both of Grand Blanc, MI and numerous friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother Margaret who died when Curtis was a young boy.

 

In accordance with Curtis's wishes, cremation will take place under the direction of Merkle Funeral Service.
