Carol John

Obituary of Carol Jane John

Carol Jane DeLanderville was born on January 23, 1950 in Dearborn, Michigan. She was one of two children born from the union of the late Orlie DeLanderville and Beatrice (Mansell) DeLanderville. Carol attended Lincoln Park High School where she would graduate with the Class of 1968.   She would later take college courses to further her education.

Carol was blessed to meet the love of her life, Johnathan John.   The couple would be married on August 31, 1996 at the Wyandotte Historical Museum.   Together they would blend their family of five children.    Carol was a devout Christian, strong in mind, body, and spirit and loved her Lord.   For the past few years she received her spiritual nourishment by worshiping at Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church in Newport.

More than anything else family meant the most to Carol, and she took every opportunity to pull them close.   Carol was known to be hospitable with a loving and caring demeanor.   She always stayed busy, often cooking and baking special treats for those around her, especially caring for her grandchildren.   If she had free time, Carol enjoyed computer games, especially Words with Friends, and other card games.   Carol was very outgoing and enjoyed traveling and taking cruises.   Occasionally, she looked forward to peaceful country drives.   Carol was also fond of shoe and bargain shopping whenever she had the chance.   Her dog, Kaiser, was a constant four-legged companion.

Carol Jane John, age 68 of Monroe, passed away at 2:55pm on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Spectrum Health Butterworth in Grand Rapids.   In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by a brother: Thomas DeLanderville.

To cherish her memory, Carol leaves her beloved husband: Jonathan of Monroe; her children: Courtney (Juan) Esquivel of Wyandotte, Tanya (Steve) Turcheck of Grosse Ile, Jennifer (Tim) Straub of Brownstown, Stephen John of Houghton Lake and Claire Brooks of England; and nine wonderful grandchildren: Claudia, Cristian, Gracie, Ava, Jaybin, Jillian, SueAnna, Shyla, and Kaden.
