Obituary of Norma Lee Knegendorf
Norma Lee Knegendorf was born on June 20, 1925 in Warren, Ohio. She was one of ten children born from the union of her late parents: Charles Huston and Bertha (Miller) Huston. Norma married the love of her life: Al Knegendorf in 1944 and started a family of their own. She received her spiritual nourishment by attending Trinity Lutheran Church.
To fulfill her lifelong drive to help others, Norma completed the Mercy Nursing Program in Toledo, Ohio, and worked for 25 years as an LPN until retiring in 2001. During that time she worked at Wellspring Lutheran Services (The Lutheran Home) in Monroe for 14 years and the American Red Cross for 10 years. After retirement, she volunteered at Stewart Road Nursing Center for 4 years, Wellspring Lutheran Services for 7 years, Monroe Regional Hospital Auxiliary for many years, and the Community Needs Meals & Blood Drives at Trinity Lutheran Church.
She was also an active member of the Lutheran Foster Children Organization in Detroit and had fostered 7 children over the course of 18 years. Her desire to help children who were in need of a safe place to call home was one that could not be surpassed. Her caring and empathetic nature will be forever missed by everyone around her.
Norma Lee Knegendorf, age 93, of Monroe, escaping the limitations of her earthly body, passed into the arms of her Lord on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at ProMedica Flower Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. Her passing was preceded by her husband of 52 years: Al Knegendorf; her grandson: Tyler Knegendorf; her foster son: Alan Pfund and her nine brothers and sisters.
