Obituary of Kathryn Angela McCracken
Kathryn Angela White was born on April 24, 1943 in Steubenville, Ohio. She is the daughter of the late Ned and Anna Lucy (Cortez) White. Kathryn attended the University of Michigan where she earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work.
She married the love of her life, Dudley McCracken, on August 13, 1982. The couple shared their lives with their four children. Kathryn worked many years as a Social Worker. She spent most of her career with Monroe County Mental Health and had also been self-employed for several years. She was always willing to educate herself on how to better help those in need. This passion led to the formation of many positive relationship and lifelong friends along the way.
Kathryn cherished the time she spent with her family. She was an awesome wife, mother, and grandmother. Kathryn loved preparing meals around the holidays, making many of her favorite traditional dishes to share. She loved the outdoors and all that it had to offer. Kathryn loved animals of all types. In her spare time, she enjoyed rooting on her favorite university teams the Ohio State Buckeyes and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. She also liked to watch the Royal Family.
Kathryn Angela McCracken, age 75, of Monroe passed away at 7:40am on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at ProMedica Monroe Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center. In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by her beloved husband: Dudley on August 12, 2009; a daughter: Jane Elizabeth McCracken; and an infant brother: Eddie White.
To cherish her memory, Kathryn leaves two daughters: Natalie Grandinetti of Port Charlotte, Florida and Dori-Kate (Andrew) Jamison of Monroe; two brothers: Lawrence (Mi-Sook Kim) White of Korea and Jonathan (Kimberly) White of Steubenville; seven grandchildren: Marina, Steven, Ethan, Jacob, Seth, Zeke and Katie; two great grandchildren: Lucas and Nadia.
Friends may gather on Saturday, December 15, 2018 from 11:30am until a Celebration of Her Life at 2:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. Deacon Mike Stewart of St. Mary Parish will officiate. Private inurnment with her husband Dudley will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan at a later date.
