Obituary of Robert Hyden

Robert Louis Hyden was born in Pruden, Tennessee on September 29, 1920. He was one of eight children born from the union of the late William and the late Amanda (Hammond) Hyden.
On January 25, 1946, Robert married the love of his life Eliza L. Parrott and from their union came the birth of six children. Robert supported his family working in the Monroe paper mills and eventually he retired in 1988 after 30 years with General Motors, Toledo Transmission Plant, where he had perfect attendance.
Robert was proud to have served his country in the U.S Army during WWII. He was a dedicated family man and husband. Robert appreciated the outdoors by watching the squirrels and birds and loved to garden. He loved children, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert looked forward to his travels to Kentucky to visit his sisters and brothers. In his later years, he enjoyed a drive to the Independent Dairy.
Robert Louis Hyden, age 92 of Monroe, Michigan passed peacefully on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the Alice Loraine Care Center, where he was cared for briefly.
To cherish his memory Robert leaves his loving wife of 67 years: Eliza of Monroe; six children: Clinton (Kathie) Parrott of Oxford, Michigan, Robert "Keith" (LoreLeen) Hyden of Lincoln Park, Betty (Earl A. II) Underwood of Monroe, Rick (Pam) Hyden of Monroe, Tim (Cindy) Hyden of Monroe, Kim (Jeff) Hutchison of Monroe; sixteen grandchildren: David Parrot, John Parrott, Tony Parrott, Robert Hyden, Shelly (Larry) Roman, Earl A. (Elizabeth) Underwood III, Ashley (Robert) Brady, Kayla (Cody) English, Tyler Hyden, Heather Hyden, Luke Hyden, Sarah Hyden, Joshua Hutchison, Ryan Hutchison, Brandon Hutchison, and Emily Hutchison; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm on Sunday May 5, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street in Monroe (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will be held at 11:00am on Monday, May 6, 2013, also at Merkle's. Reverend Roy Southerland of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. A luncheon will follow at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church for all those in attendance.
