Obituary of Jennie Lou Ward

Jennie Lou Love was born on January 30, 1928 in New Tazewell, Tennessee. She was born from the union of the late Arthur Love and the late Tina (Coffey) Love. She met the love of her life: Artemas Ward at the end of WWII where he served 4 years. They married on August 11, 1947 and moved to Monroe, MI, and from that union came 4 daughters.   

Jennie raised by strong Christian parents cherished her relationship with her Lord and Savior. She received her spiritual nourishment from attending Monroe Missionary and Heritage Baptist Church and was a proud Sunday school teacher, participated in the craft committee and the ACTEENS missionary group. Her salvation, along with her families has always been important to her.  

Jennie enjoyed entertaining, having friends and family over, preparing big meals daily. She traveled to many places, Florida being her favorite and visited her roots in Tennessee every year with her family. In her spare time, she could be found outside, tending to her beautiful garden. She would sew, making her children’s clothing over the years. Jennie’s family meant the most to her and she cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jennie Lou Ward, age 90 of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at her home. Her passing is preceded by her beloved husband: Artemas; her sister: Cynthia Parker; her brother: Thomas Love, Cleve Love and Dan Love; her half-brother: Wade Love, her half-sister: Elizabeth Phelps; her son-in-law: David Snavely; her great granddaughter: Maggie and her parents.

To cherish her memory, she leaves her children: Wanda (the late David) Snavely, Barbara (John) Worley, Linda (Robert) Burgess and Rita (Gary) Lapp; ten grandchildren: Jeffrey, Melissa, Andrea, Andrew, Adam, Aaron, Jennifer, Amanda, Aric and Bria; sixteen great grandchildren: Molly, Brenden, Chip, Ryan, Wilson, Grant, Landen, Natalie, Blake, Noah, Jonah, Kelly, Kayla, Mandi, Xzander and Gavin.

Friends may gather on Friday, December 7, 2018 from 3:00pm - 8:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe, 14567 South Dixie Highway (734)241-7070. A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 11:00am also at Merkle’s with Pastor Larry Head of Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial.
