Obituary of Shirley Ann Jessie

Shirley Ann Jessie was born on May 19, 1938 in Ohley, West Virginia. She was one of 7 children born from the late William Wayne and the late Bessie D. (Ramey) Jessie. Shirley lived most of her life in West Virginia taking care of her parents until their passing; then moved to Dundee, Michigan where she obtained her driver’s license and took employment at various locations throughout Monroe and Washtenaw County as a clerical worker for over twenty-five years; she cherished her time volunteering at the Old Mill. Family was of the upmost importance to Shirley and cherished time spent with them throughout the year. She appreciated the outdoors, tending to her flower garden and observing the vast beautiful flowers grow each year. In her quiet time, Shirley could be found reading or doing puzzles. Her sweet southern self will be remembered by all who knew her. Shirley Ann Jessie, age 80, of Dundee, passed away at 9:10pm on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at The Oasis at Monroe Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings: Billie, Roy, Joe, Robert and Patty. To cherish her memory, Shirley leaves her nieces: Cheryl “Sam” L. Jessie, Carla Curtiss, Kimberly Graley, Diane Hess, Deborah K. Nessmith, Sandy Crisp and Sharon Grajeda; nephews: Greg Lister, Rusty Buzzard, Ricky Buzzard, Mike Jessie and Tim Jessie; sister-in-laws: Anna K. Jessie and Clare Jessie and numerous great nieces and nephews. Arrangement have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, 297 Tecumseh Street, Dundee (734) 529-3156.
