Silas Roberts Jr.

Obituary of Silas John Roberts Jr.

Silas John Roberts Jr. was born on October 16, 1949 in Monroe, Michigan. He was one of seven children born from the union of the late Silas John Roberts Sr and the late Betty Jo (Edwin) Vandercook.

Silas married the love of his life, the former Vickie Carr, on December 14, 1968 in Monroe. From this union came the birth of six children. Silas attended trade school in Wisconsin, earning his boating mechanic certificate and worked hard to care for his family. Work for Silas was fishing and playing on boats. He became a boat enthusiast, owning and operating Roberts Riverfront Fish Cleaning for eighteen years. Silas had a passion for being on the water and would often spend his summer months living on his house boat, and hibernating in the winter. Although water was his favorite place to be, he could not swim.

His family meant the most to him and he loved his grandchildren dearly. Silas enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and tending to his garden. Known to many as Mose, Junior and Pops, Silas will be missed by all who knew him.

Silas John Roberts Jr., age 69 of LaSalle, passed away at 10:20pm on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. In addition to his parents passing, he is preceded in death by: his partner: Vickie Roberts; his daughter: Tammi Roberts; and a brother: Morris Roberts.

To cherish his memory, Silas leaves his children: Tina (Bill “Harvey”) Hardy of Petersburg, Silas (Angie) Roberts III of Carleton, Anthony (Renae) Roberts of Maybee, Thomas (Kacie) Roberts of Monroe, and Tonya Roberts of LaSalle; four sisters: Linda (William) Jenkins of Monroe, Elaine (William) McMullen of LaSalle, Kathy Burchette of Monroe, and Tammie Vandercook of Monroe; and one brother: Rick (Nanette) Roberts of Hudson; his step-father: Edwin Vandercook; thirteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
