Obituary of Thomas Edward Marshall

Thomas Edward Marshall was born on September 27, 1942 in Monroe, Michigan. He was one of three children born from the union of his parents: the late Louis Marshall and the late Elzora (Thibert) Marshall. He enlisted in the United States Navy in October of 1960 and honorably served his country until he was discharged in August of 1964.

He met and married the love of his life: Patricia Smith on December 29, 1960 and together they decided to raise a family of their own and were blessed with three sons. To support his family, he worked for many years at Ford Motor Company until he retired in 2007.

In his younger years, Tom enjoyed being outdoors and spent countless hours hiking the woods and trails or going fishing with family and friends throughout the beautiful state of Michigan. He was very artistic and enjoyed carving, painting and drawing. When his health declined, he enjoyed playing video games alongside his grandchildren.

Above anything, he loved spending time with his family. He was a great provider for his wife and children, and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will forever be known as one of the kindest people you will ever meet and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Thomas Edward Marshall, age 76, of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. His passing is preceded by his son: Jeffrey Marshall; his brothers: Robert Marshall and Arthur Yensch; his 4 step sisters: Helen Ferguson, Shirley Lajiness, Jackie Gotha and Margie Marshall and his parents.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his beloved wife of 57 years: Patricia Marshall; his children: David Marshall and Richard (Julie Metzger) Marshall; his 2 brothers: Kenneth Marshall and Jerry (Sue) Marshall; his step sister: Bonnie Preston; his grandchildren: Christopher, Stephanie, Justin and Mariah; his great grandchildren: Hailey, Gauge, Laila and Michael; Barbara Lajiness: who was like a sister to him and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan (734)384-5185. The family will be holding a private memorial service in his honor.
