Obituary of Logan Jack Kruse

Logan Jack Kruse was born at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor on May 17, 2013.   He was the oldest of two children born from the union of Herman “Herm” C. and Alisa M. (Castiglia) Kruse.   He was baptized at Dundee United Methodist Church.   Logan was born with many health challenges, and although his life would be difficult on some levels, his resolve was unparalleled.

Logan was exceptionally smart and intuitive.  He had attended the Monroe County ISD’s ECSE program at Summerfield schools and recently was enrolled in Ida schools’ Young 5’s classroom.  With an amazing smile and generous heart, he had so much love and joy to share. Logan was all boy, and although he was a little sassy and mischievous, he had the ability to warm anyone’s heart.

Full of energy, Logan rarely sat still.  He loved to jump into piles of leaves and play outside in the snow.   He enjoyed helping in the kitchen, whether it was cracking eggs or stirring Kool-Aide and tasting it before it was done.  Logan liked to dance, spin and twirl indoors and would often grab his dad’s attention by asking, "you want to hear me do something cool?" and "Want to see how fast I can go? I can go super-duper fast!"

Logan had a special bond with his sister, Amira.   They enjoyed having special sleepovers in each other’s rooms, playing together, and watching their favorite shows. He also loved to hang with his cousins.

Logan, age 5, of Petersburg passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Mott’s Children’s Hospital.   His passing was preceded by his Opa, Will Kruse.

To cherish his memory Logan leaves his parents:  Herm and Alisa of Petersburg; sister:  Amira at home; his Oma, Sharon Kruse; his maternal grandma and pop-pop, Rhoda and Tim Castiglia; great aunt and special babysitter, Karen Ottmar. Logan captured the hearts of his aunts and uncles and he will always hold a special place in their hearts. Paternal aunts and uncles: Tamra Kruse, Crysti and Tracy Esper, Bill and Julie Kruse, Mary and Robert Sandefur, Garvin and Mandy Kruse, Shara and Bryan Goetz, and his maternal aunt and uncle, Nickie and Jared Bloomberg. Logan loved hanging around all of his cousins: Ellyn, Julius, special cousins and babysitters: Lydia and Meredith; Elise, Camdenne, Liam, Sophia; and Eva. He will be missed by the family’s four-legged companion German Shepherd, Klei.

Friends may gather on Sunday, November 25, 2018 from 1:00PM until a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM at Merkle Funeral Service, Dundee (formerly Cover Funeral Home) 297 Tecumseh Street (734) 529-3156.   Deacon Tracy Esper, Logan’s uncle, of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church will officiate.
