Obituary of John Sawicki

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John Sawicki was born on December 29, 1950 in Wyandotte, Michigan. He was one of five children born from the union of his parents: the late Cassimer Sawicki and the late Thelma (Weaver) Sawicki. John graduated from Jefferson High School and went on to take college courses. He married the love of his life: Jeanette Pierce on July 16, 1995 and together they raised their blended family. He was a great provider for his family and worked many years at Toledo Beach Marina.

John was an avid boater and fisherman and spent countless hours on the water. He enjoyed taking short trips and mini vacations on his boat alongside his wife and co-captain. He was a Detroit Tigers fan and a member of the Monroe Boat Club for many years.

John was a very generous man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and never expected anything in return. He was highly intelligent and a natural handy man and jack of all trades who could repair anything and always up for the task at hand.

Above anything, John was a family man. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather and a great “big brother” to his sisters. His generous nature and kind heart will be missed by all who knew him.

John Sawicki, age 67, of Newport passed away on October 19, 2018 at Henry Ford Hospital in Wyandotte. His passing is preceded by his sister Cassie Sawicki and his parents.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his beloved wife of 24 years: Jeanette Sawicki; his children: Renee (Eric) Gibson, Michael (Stacey) Gardner, Nicole Lindsay and Richard (Kelly) Pierce; his sisters: Toni (George) Szabo, Cheryl (Mike) Modzelewski and Joan (Joe) Kersey; his grandchildren: Levi, Madison, Vaughn, Rachael, Ricky, Jakob and Carly; many nieces, nephews, several great grandchildren and many extended family members and friends and his doggie companion: Isabel. He is also survived by his marina family at Toledo Beach Marina.
