Gerard Toro Sr.

Obituary of Gerard Edward Toro Sr.

Gerard Edward Toro was born on March 8, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan. He was one of seven children born from the union of his parents: the late Joseph and the late Marie T. (Merrill) Toro. Jerry proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy serving from December 7, 1967 until he was honorably discharged on August 4, 1969.

Jerry married the love of his life, Robin K. Riley on March 2, 1968 in Flat Rock, Michigan. Jerrys main priority in life was his family. He was a devoted husband and father and worked hard to care for his family. He had a generous nature, willing to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Jerry enjoyed spending time up north and cooking for family and friends.

In his spare time, Jerry liked to watch his favorite old time Western’s and cracking jokes at anyone and everyone, always making those around him “Bust a Gut”! He was mechanically inclined having spent time working at Ford and McCloud Steel. Jerry also had a stubborn nature but was determined to always complete the task at hand. He had an ear for music often listening to his favorite country and bluegrass tunes.

Gerard “Jerry” Edward Toro Sr., age 70 of Monroe, passed away at 9:05pm at his home in Monroe on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 under the care of ProMedica Hospice.
