Obituary of Joan Bomia-Knight
Joan Bomia-Knight was born April 30, 1942 in Monroe. She was one of six children born from the union of Frank and Edna (Thomas) Stockard. Joan was a 1961 Monroe High School graduate. She married William C. Bomia on Oct 31,1959 and spent forty-seven years together before his passing in 2006. Joan remarried Leslie “Butch” Knight on February 4, 2008 whom she spent five years together before he passed in 2015.
Joan was employed as a Lead Cook, Trainor at Denny’s Restaurant where she received a MenuMaster’s Award.
Joan was spunky, could tell a good joke and loved to laugh. Although, she was not afraid to hold back to express her feelings, she was kind; a mother and friend to all. She had a passion for cooking and donated her time at God Works Family Soup Kitchen. Joan will always be remembered for her renowned Pigs in the Blankets. She looked forward to her travels to New Orleans and in Michigan and finding unique treasures yard saling and antique shopping. Most of all she cherished family gatherings in her home and spending time with her grandchildren.
In her quiet time, she enjoyed watching Soap Operas, Family Feud and cooking shows. Often, she could be found sitting on her deck sipping on her favorite beverage, Smirnoff Vodka and Squirt with her canine companion, “Bud.”
To cherish her memory, she leaves her three children: Jeffery (Theresa) Bomia of Southgate, Gregory and Leslie Bomia both of Monroe; her siblings: William Stockard, Bernice Graves and Janice Clayborne; ten grandchildren: Trista, Owen, Matthew, Brendon, Noel, Clayton, Skylar, Brittney, Heather and Misty; six great-grandchildren: Payton, William III, Jeffery III, Lucas, Sarhara and Angelina.
