Sharon Young

Obituary of Sharon Lee Young

Sharon Lee Clackett was born in Dearborn on June 4, 1950.  She was the daughter of the late Marvin and Maxine May (Brakeman) Clackett.   Growing up in Lincoln Park, she was adopted and raised by her stepfather:  Delbert Smith.

She married her best friend and companion, the love of her life, Bradley Wade Young on September 20, 1991 in Wyandotte.   For many years the couple attended Northline Baptist.   She was a lifetime Auxillary member and Past President to the Lincoln Park Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.

Sharon worked as a Telemarketer for Maclean Hunter Cable for many years.  She was extremely talented in this position and won many awards for sales.   She also worked as an expert sand artist, floral designer, and professional baker.

Sharon enjoyed attending yard sales and auctions.   She loved to travel and created many wonderful memories on cross country jaunts by way of the Amtrak Train.   Greenfield Village was another favorite destination.

Although she could be stubborn sometimes, Sharon was truly a wonderful person with a generous, warm, and caring heart.  She was often referred to as a friend to all.   Sharon looked forward to the annual potluck and 4th of July fireworks display.  She often sat on her deck to feed the birds and watch the animals.   In her free time, she kept her mind sharp by playing computer games.

Sharon Lee Young, age 68, of Monroe passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at her home.   She had been under the care of Heartland Hospice.   In addition to her parents and stepfather her passing was preceded by a brother Bill Allen.

To cherish her memory she leaves her beloved husband of twenty-seven years:  Bradley Wade Young of Monroe; three sons:  Donald Joseph (Sally) Cicotte of California, Robert Delbert (Michelle) Cicotte of Florida, and Andrew Franklin (Jenni) Cicotte of Ohio; stepdaughter:  Kimberly (Dr. John) Lupini of Gibraltar; an aunt Mary Brakeman of Wyandotte; nine grandchildren:  Joey, Jake, D.J., Jerry, Michael, Konner, Christian, Aiden, and Daniel; and a very special cat:  Bunky.

Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 4:00pm on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe (734) 241-7070.   A Celebration of Her Homegoing will take place at 4:00pm also at Merkle’s with Chaplain Renee Hampton of Heartland Hospice officiating.
