Susan Hayes

Obituary of Susan Leona Hayes

Susan Leona LaValley was born on July 24, 1949 in Mt Clemens, Michigan.  She was one of five children born from the union of the late Harvey LaValley and the late Delores (Weustenburg) Brewster.

Susan met the love of her life, Frank Duane Hayes Sr., and they were married on March 3, 1971 in Orange County, California. From this union came the birth of two children, Frank Jr. and Tammie. Susan was honored to work from home and care for the needs of her family.   She was a pioneer and champion for children with disabilities and a devoted caregiver for her son, Frank Jr.   Susan paved the way for her son and passed the torch to her daughter to continue caring for the disabled and the needy.

Naturally selfless and giving, Susan was a mom to all the neighborhood kids and loved them like her own. She had a great sense of humor, a contagious smile.   However, Susan could keep everyone on their toes with her ability to be cantankerous.   In her spare time, she would play bingo and enjoyed complicated jigsaw puzzles. Her family will remember her as an amazing mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be missed my many and loved by all.

Susan Leona Hayes, age 69 of Temperance, passed away at 12:01pm at Hickory Ridge Nursing Home with her loving family by her side. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her husband: Frank Duane Hayes Sr.; her son: Frank Duane Hayes Jr.; and a brother-in-law: Dave Maynard.

To cherish her family, Susan leaves her daughter: Tammie Sue Hayes of Houghton Lake; her brother: Dennis (Roxanne) LaValley of Toledo; her sisters: Denise LaValley of Harsens Island, Cindy Maynard of Temperance and Sharie (Doug) Plewa of Temperance; three grandchildren: Kayla Hayes of Oscoda, Cortney (Josh) Darling of Lucerne Valley, California, and Alexis Hayes of San Francisco; and four great grandchildren:  Loralai Whittiker of California, Ellen Rose Miller of California, Frank Dwayne Hayes III of Oscoda, and Jeremiah Darling of Lucerne Valley, California.
